When the disciples heard it, they fell flat on their faces, scared to death. But Jesus came over and touched them. Don’t be afraid. When they opened their eyes and looked around all they saw was Jesus, only Jesus.

Our Lord Jesus has taught us in prayer to have an eye to God as our Father in heaven; not that he is confined there but there especially he manifests his glory as the King. Heaven is a place of prospect and a place of power he that dwells there beholds thence all the calamities of his people and thence can down from there to save them.
Sometimes God seems to have forsaken the earth and the enemies of God's people ask them where is now your God? But then they can say with comfort, Our God is in the heavens. O thou that sit in the heavens sit as Judge there; for the Lord has prepared his throne in the heavens and to that throne injured innocence may appeal. The regard here had to God was to lifted up his eyes to him the eyes of a good man are ever towards the Lord.
Psa25:15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net. In every prayer we lift up our soul, the eye of our soul are to God especially in trouble, which was the case here for the eyes of the people waited on the Lord. Psa123:2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
We find mercy coming towards a people when the eyes of man as of all the tribes of Israel, are towards the Lord. The eyes of the body are heaven-ward to teach us which way to direct the eyes of the mind. Our eyes wait on the Lord, the eye of desire and prayer is the begging eye, and the eye of dependence, hope, and expectation, are the longing eye. Our eyes must wait upon God as the Lord and our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
We desire mercy from him we hope he will show us mercy, and we will continue our attendance on him till the mercy come. This is why we need to SEE NO OTHER BUT HIM. This is illustrated by a similitude our eyes are to God as the eyes of a servant and handmaid and as to the hand of their master and mistress. The eyes of a servant are to his master's directing hand, expecting that he will appoint him his work and cut it out for him, and show him how he must do it, Lord what wilt thou have me to do?
To his supplying hand Servants look to their master, or their mistress, for their portion of meat in due season, Tit 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; there is a common and blessed hope for all true Christians. By this hope is meant the thing hoped for namely, Christ himself, who is called our hope and blessedness in and through him, even riches of glory hence fitly termed here that blessed hope.
Eph 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. The design of the gospel is to stir up all to a good life by this blessed hope. Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
To the same purport here, Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world, looking for the blessed hope; not as mercenaries, but as dutiful and thankful Christian. What manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hastening to the coming of the day of God, that is expecting and diligently preparing for it and in the glorious appearing of Christ that will the blessed hope of Christians to be attained; for their felicity will be this, to be where he is, and to behold his glory, the glory of the great God and our Saviour will then break out as the sun.
Though in the exercise of his judiciary power he will appear as the Son of man, yet will he be mightily declared to be the Son of God too. The divinity, which on earth was much veiled will shine out then as the sun in its strength. Hence the work and design of the gospel are to raise the heart to wait for this second appearing of Christ. We are begotten again to a lively hope of it, turned to serve the living God, and wait for his Son from heaven, 1Th1:9-10. Christians are marked by this, expecting their Master's coming loving his appearance. Let us then look to this hope; let our loins be girt, and our lights burning, and ourselves like those who wait for their Lord the day or hour we know not, but he that shall come will come, and will not tarry we then should See No Other But Him.
Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. We as Christians must look at what have been done for us by keeping our eyes on Jesus. Look unto him that is, we must set him continually before us as our example, and our great encouragement; we must look to him for direction, for assistance, and for acceptance, in all our sufferings.
He endured the cross for all those sufferings that he met with in the world for us for he took up his cross betimes, and was at length nailed to it. Isa 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else for the comfort and encouragement of all God's faithful worshippers whoever they are for those that worship idols pray to gods that cannot save.
But the God of Israel says it to all the ends of the earth, to his people though they are scattered into the utmost corners of the world and seem to be lost and forgotten in their dispersion, “Let them but look to me by faith and prayer they shall all be invited to look unto him, as the stung Israelites did to the brazen serpent; and so be strong is the eye of faith that by divine grace it will reach the Saviour and fetch in salvation by him even from the ends of the earth; for he is God, and there is none else.
Two things are here promised, for the abundant satisfaction of all that by faith look to the Saviour that the comfort and joy of Christians are that their Saviour is the great God, and will gloriously manifest himself at his second coming. Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou may be rich; and white raiment, that thou may be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thy eyes with eye salve, that thou may see.
Something indeed must be parted with but it is nothing of a valuable consideration it is only to make room for receiving true riches. Part with sin and self-sufficiency, and come to Christ with a sense of your poverty and emptiness, that you may be filled with his hidden treasure. These people were naked but Christ tells them where they might have clothing, and such as would cover the shame of their nakedness. This they must receive from Christ; and they must only put off their filthy rags that they might put on the white raiment which he had purchased and provided for them - his own imputed righteousness for justification and the garments of holiness and sanctification.
They were blind; and he counsels them to buy of him eye-salve, that they might see, to give up their own wisdom and reason, which are but blindness in the things of God, and resign themselves to his word and Spirit, and their eyes shall be opened to see their way and their end, their duty and their true interest; a new and glorious scene would then open itself to their souls; a new world furnished with the most beautiful and excellent objects, and this light would be marvelous to those who were but just now delivered from the powers of darkness. This is the wise and good counsel Christ gives to the careless souls and, if they follow it he will judge himself bound in honour to make it effectual were they will and can "SEE NO OTHER BUT HIM" and be save in Jesus name. AMEN BE BLESSED
